Present in the Pieces

You do not have to be whole to be present.

Present in the Pieces is a faith-centered home for grieving mothers learning to breathe, live, and meet themselves again after loss. Here, we take the journey one breath, one step, and one day at a time.

Dee Willard-Ruffin, founder of Present in the Pieces

A gentle truth

You are not losing your mind. You are grieving.

Grief does not stay tucked inside the heart. It moves through the whole of you — reshaping how you sleep, how you think, how you love, and how you show up in the world. What you are feeling is not weakness. It is the weight of a love that did not stop.

Identity

You may not recognize the woman in the mirror.

Sleep & focus

Rest feels distant. Small tasks feel enormous.

Relationships

Being around others can feel like too much and not enough.

Faith

Your prayers may feel different. God is still listening.

A grieving mother, walking beside grieving mothers.

Deitrice "Dee" Willard-Ruffin created this space after the loss of her son Tyric. She is a Christian woman, mother, grandmother, and widow — still healing, still becoming.

Before you go

One breath. One step. One day.

You do not have to have the words. You do not have to have the answers. You only have to be here, in this moment, exactly as you are.
